Hyperion

HYPERION - RESEARCH

Founded in 2021, Hyperion has the goal to develop bi-liquid rocket engines, meaning using two liquids propellants, that will propel the future rockets of the association.

DISCOVER THE POWER OF A ROCKET ENGINE

What does a rocket need to fly? An engine of course. And what better way to learn how a rocket engine works than building one yourself! The experienced students at the bi-liquid propellant project are developing a fully in-house bi-liquid propellant engine that will be later on integrated in our competition rocket. In order to be able to test the engine our students are also developing a testing facility. Our goal is to be one of the first in Switzerland to create a rocket with a bi-liquid propellant engine and able to fly using this engine in the 2023 edition of EuRoC. We also hope to test the engine on the Hopper rocket of the Icarus project, in June 2023.

In parallel to the bi-liquid propellant engine, our students are also developing engines with liquid Oxygen instead of Nitrous Oxide, that are a lot more powerful (5 kN), as well as electric motor pumps (e-pumps).
